Sunday 1/14/24

A frozen day... very slow going on I-5; even the semis were minding their manners. Though I saw a few snow plows later, there really are very few in this county, since snow and ice are so far and in-between. There were a couple of spin-outs, but otherwise pretty calm.

Nothing like a blanket of snow to keep things quiet. And beautiful. It really is magical when all is covered by cool, icy white. Still, it's bitter cold and I'm glad most people are staying in.

Talk about staying in! I think there were about 3 people attending service in the sanctuary today and the 8 of us running tech, music and the preacher. Of course, he told people to not come in--and they listened! More than 80 tuned in to the livestream which I was commandeering today. Delighted to know how to run the mixing board for the video feed.

The rest of the day was spent managing the bird-feeding. Don't know how they managed for eons without us (jk). But we kept the hummingbird feeder sugar water liquid--having to defrost about every 2 hours--and the other feeders full. You can practically watch the level recede as the many birds partake of that gift. The only slow down was when a pair of hawks appeared in our birch tree; the little birds scattered. It took a while for them to return, once the hawks had surveyed, and then left, the area. I'm sure the gathering of many little birds didn't escape their eyes--everyone is looking for sustenance.

Now just updating software and correcting the dialogue of the opening scene to my play. What at first seemed a heavy, weight subject is becoming light and full of mirth, while still attending to some difficult subjects. Just takes a while to percolate....

Off to make stir fry. and to continue to percolate the dialogue among my 5 characters dealing with life, death, the generations, accumulation of things and the end of days. More tomorrow.
